Borehole filtration for manufacturing facility North Yorkshire

Location:

North Yorkshire.

The Problem

The borehole filtration for this manufacturing facility needed to be able to handle large volumes of water.  The application uses up to 150 litres per minute to feed a production line.
A filtration system was required as the customer was struggling with water flow around the site due to high levels of sediment.  The site was having difficulties with the water flow whilst the sediment filters were, periodically, cleaning themselves. To overcome this issue, we installed two 3000 litre tanks and a variable speed pump.
The four sediment removal vessels are controlled by a system controller, depending on the flow rate required, the system controller will open the valves to increase or decrease the flow as required. This means, if water demand is low, the vessels, which are not required, will be switched “off” making the system more efficient on water and energy usage.

The first four filters are sediment and ammonium reduction filters, which have chlorine generators. These chlorine generators produce chlorine using electrolysis during the regeneration process.

After the sediment filters, there are four ion exchange units designed to reduce iron and manganese and hardness.

There are four of each sediment/ammonia and ion exchange units installed. This is to cope with the varying flow rates that the production line requires for its operation, both lots of 4 vessels use system controllers. The system then flows through a stainless steel multi cartridge housing to remove fine particulate down to 5 micron, before it then passes through a pair of UV filters. These UV Sterlisers will ensure that all bacteria is removed from the borehole water.

Existing Systems

At Prosep Filter Services we have taken on many Water Treatment Systems installed by other companies like ourselves. We are always happy to work with new customers.

Water Testing

The starting point for any water treatment design is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate. Using a UKAS Accredited Laboratory. Two of our engineers, here at Prosep Filter Services, have undergone formal training and are now certified to carry out water sampling to UKAS accredited standards.

Bacteria

The UV-PRO range of ultra violet sterilisers, by Prosep Filter Services, are versatile units for domestic applications designed to kill waterborne bacteria using the proven method of exposure to ultra violet light.

Iron & Manganese Reduction

Prosep Filter Services offer various sizes of systems to remove iron and manganese from your private water supply. We have technical experts on hand to help resolve any problems you may have with your borehole or spring water supply.

pH Correction

Water in which the pH is below 7 is acidic. Acidic water accelerates corrosion in pipe work, It can also cause staining on fittings in baths, sinks and other appliances. Acidic water can leave a distinctive ‘metallic’ taste when drunk.
