These images were taken during a service carried out last week before the chaotic weather! This customer is based in Halifax. Their supply is a spring supply. This service was slightly overdue, because of this the pre-filter had a large build-up of brown particulate (sediment), which will cause an increase in pressure drop in the water outlets within your property. The UV quartz had excessive iron staining which can indicate that there is traces of iron present in the water. When we backwashed the system, there was orange water coming from the filter vessel which also indicates iron present in the water. The pH correction vessel was presenting traces of organic material which is the brown residue in the 2nd image. This system was not functioning as it was designed to do which is why we advocate regular servicing of treatment systems!
Water Testing
The starting point for any water treatment design is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate. Using a UKAS Accredited Laboratory. pH Correction
Water in which the pH is below 7 is acidic. Acidic water accelerates corrosion in pipe work, It can also cause staining on fittings in baths, sinks and other appliances. Acidic water can leave a distinctive ‘metallic’ taste when drunk.
