Water testing samples

Private Water Supply Testing/Sampling

A fundamental starting point for any water treatment design is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate. The best way to ensure this is to use UKAS accredited samplers and a UKAS accredited laboratory.

Here at Prosep Filter Services, our engineers are UKAS accredited which means, we follow certain procedures to guarantee you a water analysis certificate which will be accepted by all regulatory and financial bodies. These may include mortgage lenders and local authorities. Accreditation assesment is carried out and UKAS registration numbers are issued by the Drinking Water Inspectorate who dictate all private water supply regulations throughout the UK.

Provides a written record of the water condition, which can be used for designing a bespoke filtration system. Private water supply testing/sampling is important when purchasing a new property as safe drinking water is paramount. Having this certification gives you peace of mind that you and your family will be drinking clean, safe water.

An overview of our private water sampling service

The starting point for any water treatment design, is a representative water analysis that is complete and accurate.

To remove iron and manganese from a water supply for example, it is not just important to know how much iron and manganese is present. Modern medias for treating water for excessive iron and manganese, also require us to know the pH level, whether the contaminants are dissolved, is there sufficient oxygen to permit sedimentation, what is the sodium level, etc.

For this reason, when we look at analysing your water we will arrange for a full suite of tests to be carried out, and only by doing this can we be sure that our proposal will work to the levels that we state.

We do not carry out the analysis work in house. We use a fully UKAS accredited laboratory, that has the most up to date equipment, to analyse and report on the water quality. We will take samples as part of an initial survey, if required, but due to the in-depth nature of the report this is a chargeable service.

If you are not local and feel confident in taking your own water sample, we can send a water test kit to you by courier. This set will then be collected by our courier and returned to us and we will submit to the laboratory for analysis. Results take approximately 10 working days to come back from the laboratory.

To assist with future sampling, our installations incorporate sampling taps at strategic points. This is for future analysis and fault finding. Where appropriate, we fit a raw water and treated water sampling point on all installations.

If you are buying a house with no mains water there will, usually (if the house has been previously inhabited), be a private water supply to the property. In recent months we have a seen a big increase in mortgage lenders requesting proof that this water supply is safe to drink. As we have UKAS Accredited samplers who follow UKAS procedures when sampling, our water analysis reports will always be accepted by any financial/government institution.
